Mickey's Story:
In early Spring of 2007 our Savanna buck escaped his enclosure. For MONTHS we attempted to get that
goat rounded up. We tried chasing him, we tried roping him, we tried luring him, we tried cornering him.
Nothing worked! We literally spent hours trying to get that goat rounded up. As the summer wore on
and he spent more time standing along the muddy trench bordering the does pen he became lame with
hoof rot. It was very upsetting to not be able to catch and treat such a valuable animal.

That is when we called in the reinforcements. We called our good friends, the Hindbos. Mom Sharmane
and daughter Amy brought over 4 dogs and within a few minutes we had the buck confined. I was
amazed and impressed with the skills of these dogs. I was sold!!

Two of the dogs the Hindbos brought over, Sarah and Gus, had a litter of pups on the ground. We went
over for a few visits and "Mickey" chose us. :) We brought him home in mid-December and have been
enjoying him ever since. Our dog ownership experience has been limited primarily to terriers who could
care less what their human's opinion may be. The herding dog mentality is quite the opposite and very
refreshing! We are looking forward to using Mickey on the ranch in the future. It would also be a lot of
fun to try this boy at agility!
