Ramsay's Story:
Ramsay had a very exciting life prior to coming home to Ravenwood Ranch. He was born May 9, 1984
in Orangeville, Ontario. He evented in Ontario until he was 11 years old. In 1995 he was brought to
Calgary where he was shown on the "A" circuit as a 3'6" - 3'9" jumper. He loved to jump anything and
everything and never refused to try any jump. He was shown at both Thunderbird and Spruce Meadows.

He then moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan while his owner, Christine, attended university. He lived the
life of a "prairie horse" at Northfork Equestrian Centre, spending his days roaming a huge pasture with
other horses. Upon graduation, Christine and Ramsay headed out west to Abbotsford, BC where they
focused on dressage. Ramsay excelled in dressage after dabbling in it earlier as an eventer. He has
phenomenal movement and his extended trot will take your breath away!

Christine then started looking for a retirement home for this handsome boy and we said we would LOVE
to have Ramsay join our family. I was looking for a gentle soul to help young kids learn how to ride and
gain confidence on. Ramsay is just perfect. We know he loves it here at the ranch spending sunny
afternoons grazing the pastures, napping with the other geldings and being spoiled rotten by Pony Club
kids.

Ramsay truly is a horse who has been loved by many and touched many people's lives. He is a true gent
and an absolute joy to be around. He is as frisky as a teenager and always knows his job under saddle.
Ramsay came to us in the fall of 2006 and had a pretty cushy winter. In the spring of 2007 he came
along to Pony Club a few times and different kids rode him. I recall one evening in particular. We hadn't
really asked much of Ramsay since he arrived, thinking that a nice, lazy retirement would be what he'd
like. An accomplished Pony Clubber, Megan, asked if she could ride Ramsay in her lesson. She really put
him through his paces and wowed us all! There was a Pony Club camp going on at the time with 50+
horses, riders and a variety of skilled instructors. Megan began riding him around the ring and
immediately Ramsay was transformed. His ears were pricked forward, his eyes were bright, he arched
his neck and was literally prancing around the ring. He caught everyone's attention and in no time flat a
crowd had gathered ringside. People exclaimed that he was the most magnificant mover they'd ever
seen. A skilled eventing coach remarked that he was an amazing horse and it was evident that someone
had spent A LOT of time training him. She said he was the best trained horse on the place! It brought
tears to my eyes and a big smile to my face to see this beautiful horse doing what he truly loved to do.
Since that time he has been a Pony Club favourite. This past season he helped one little girl pass her D2
Pony Club test with flying colours. Megan rode him again at the year end show where he won first in
dressage and second in jumping.

Ramsay has been such a blessing in my life, and in the lives of the Pony Clubbers who love him. We
cannot thank Christine enough for entrusting her special boy to us. I know it must be so hard for her to
have him living so far away, but he really is sharing his greatest gifts with so many people now. He is
loved and cherished. To look upon the big grin of a kid who has just had the ride of their life because of
this wonderful horse is to know that he is spending his retirement doing just exactly what he was meant
to do.
